Compliance Update on the Use of Vitamin A and Its Derivatives in Cosmetics

Adeguamento sull’uso di Vitamina A e derivati nei cosmetici - Skincare - Arganiae

Statement of compliance with Regulation (EU) 2024/996 regarding the use of vitamin A and its derivatives in cosmetic products

Following the entry into force of Regulation (EU) 2024/996, the European Commission introduced specific limits on the vitamin A content, including retinol, its esters and derivatives, in cosmetic products. The regulation also requires the following wording to be included in the product directions for use:

With this statement, the cosmetic laboratory Voltolina Cosmetici Srl confirms that all products fully comply with the concentration limits set by the new regulation:

  • 0.05% retinol equivalent for body lotions and leave-on body products;
  • 0.3% retinol equivalent for all other product categories.

Including this wording in the directions for use is an act of transparency and regulatory compliance, designed to ensure that consumers use the product correctly and consciously.

Vitamin A is a safe ingredient widely used in cosmetics for its well-known skin benefits. However, as with all active ingredients, a regulatory limit has been introduced to prevent excessive overall exposure, which may result from the combination of multiple sources, including cosmetics, supplements and food.

This indication does not imply a direct risk associated with the product. Instead, it correctly informs the consumer and promotes conscious use, in line with the highest safety and transparency standards required by European legislation.
